Lyra was a stunning bride, and so fun to work with. Lyra & Lowell had their wedding reception at the beautiful Panorama House at Bulli Tops. The view was amazing, the guests were so funny and the performances throughout the reception were never ending. Being part philippino myself, I know we all love to karaoke and that’s all they did! One acoustic performance after the other. This shot was taken pre-wedding at Novatel North Beach. The weather was warm, and you could hear the waves crashing at north beach right from the balcony of their suite.

Lyra & Lowell – Novatel & Panorama House – Bulli Wedding Photography

Yesterday was the wedding day of fabulous couple Lyra & Lowell. Now when I first spoke to Lyra on the phone it turns out we had a fair bit in common. If you’re not aware I am 1/4 spanish, 1/4 philippino and 1/2 italiano (hence the short fuse sometimes) lol. Lyra is actually philippino as well. So when it came to the reception at Panorama house in Bulli Tops, I felt like I was part of the family. Although I don’t speak full tagalog (their philippino language), I am able to say random words and understand the tonality of some sentences. Years of listening to my mum gas bagging away on the phone to my Aunty finally paid off lol. Back to Lyra & Lowell, had a sensational say, the bridal party was everything and more than I could ask for! Leisa & Jay – Wedding Day – By Kiama Wedding Photographer

Ah the wedding day of Leisa & Jay.. the wedding I walked out of knowing my jaw couldn’t take anymore. Certainly a quirky bunch, but also very sweet, especially those bridesmaids. When I arrived at the Sebel Hotel in Kiama to shoot the pre-wedding shots with the girls I told them to start laughing during a formal shot. Then Kim (bridesmaid number 1) looked over to our bride-to-be and said ‘Green Water!!!’ ..Suddenly comes this loud gasp of laughter from the three of them.. ‘inside joke maybe??’ I thought. Later they informed me that they had a blonde moment the day before when they thought a grass patch on the outside scenery was actually water.. hmmm.. enough said? lol

This shot I love, it balances really well in the frame and no one will even know I took the blue channel all the way down to compensate for the dress being as white as possible.

Sydney Wedding – Andres & Stephanie – By Kiama Wedding Photographer

Love this shot.. with the help of 3 bridesmaids and a flower girl to assist with the petal throwing.. we have this! :)

I remember this as an even funnier shot than meets the eye. You see.. her very quirky but awesome bridesmaids threw the petals earlier than I had said. I was simply demonstrating saying ‘ok girls I’ll go 1.. 2.. 3.. then throw on three’ ..but before I could get my words out they had thrown the flowers before I could get out my last few words. Followed this was an outburst of laughter from our entire crew.. until we tried it again 5 minutes later.
This shot depicts exactly what Steph and Andres were like on their wedding day.. happy & crazy in love. This shot makes me giggle.

Em & Richie – Wedding Day – Illawarra Wedding Photographer

I started to put together some non-traditional lightroom presets some time ago and thought I would share. This shot was from the lovely wedding day of Emily & Richard. Their Wollongong Wedding was fun, laid back and went as quick as a flash! :/ Never the less, they were two very beautiful people dancing to Jason Mraz’s ‘I’m yours’ in their first dance as husband and wife.. sigh.

Anyway, I better head off! Happy Wednesday morning and toodles!

Wedding Photography – Thea & Luke – Edgy Theme

Classic shot and always a winner. I believe this was shot at f/3.2 no flash, just using the awesome natural light of the hotel! Split toned and a little contrast was added but not a great deal of photoshop involved which is always a plus. The minute I saw Thea in her dress I was speechless, Luke was pretty schmick as well :)

Overall, the day was in plain words.. awesome! We finished up with a few Samoan dance numbers ending the night with a bang! ..Although the stomping and yells frightened the flowers girl a little bit every one enjoyed it! It’s amazing how you can turn piles of hay into a skirt and get a great flick without it all falling apart.

Tash & Brad – Wedding – City Beach Function Centre – Illawarra Wedding Photography

Brad and his little girl caught in a moment just after the ceremony. First time I met Tash and Brad they told me about their 3 beautiful children and how they have done everything backwards.. I met them in their pre-wedding hotel at Novatel North Beach and they were like a mini version of Tash.

Just before the ceremony kiss, Brad turned around and said to the kids ‘what do you reckon guys? am I allowed to kiss Mummy?’ ..the kids giggled and nodded with a smile of ‘permission granted’ right before Brad kissed Tash as his wife for the first time. It was a ceremony on the pebbled walkway of South Beach.

This shot I love.. it captured the happiness Brad felt at that moment holding his daughter close. He was truly a stand up guy and Tash was, and is, one top chick.

I met another lovely couple at the wedding, Emma and Daniel. Met up with them last week and am honoured to be their wedding photographer next year!

South Beach – Wedding Day – Daniel and Rachel – Wollongong Wedding Photographer

This was one of the last shots taken of the bridal party shots, alongside South Beach in Wollongong near their city beach reception. They decided to digress from the group and without saying anything to anyone they held eachothers hand and took off for a stroll down the beach.. I smiled to myself and followed them without them knowing. Soon enough they found out hehe luckily they were paying me to stalk them and take their pictures otherwise we’d have a problem.

I think this shot is very simple, traditional and Rach looks so elegant in her wedding dress. Rach is a rockstar and could make a potato sack look good :) ..The over cast day striked a little low contrast, needing some serious need of a contrast boost but the original wasn’t very different. Has a 20% glamour filter over the tones of the sand and Rachel’s skin (almost too subtle to notice, but that’s the way I like it).

Took down the exposure in LR3 by 2/3 stop with the gradient tool just to bring out the clouds a little more.

And I believe for this shot, I had the assistance of Daniel’s brother to do the old ‘you have 0.56 seconds to run out of the shot after flicking up that veil’ ..We pulled if off :)
