Our fabulous Facebook Beauty Search Competition Winner, Oceana Strachan and her behind the scenes video with us!

We held a Facebook Beauty Search Competition a few months ago to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation .. It was just a matter of a “like” vote count .. Beauty was a no brainer for everyone who entered :)

We had a great day shooting on site, it started raining half way through our shoot so the girls from Unity Hair were happy to lend a hand with their yummy striped wall! ..

It’s been 4 years. My brother, Ian, 25, is getting married to his dear love Melanie tomorrow.

Ever have those couples in your life who have something magical? Something indescribable? ..You know the kind of love that makes you want to vomit.. the mushy stuff, y’know?

Well this is what they have. They spend every waking hour together, are each others halves (a bit like ying yangs), and have been through thick and thin together. Melanie even survived the sister in law test (yes that was me muhaha!) ..

Yes I’m shooting the wedding. I get to be part of their day, the ins and outs and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Minus the reception, we have Simon filling in for the indoor flash stuff .. but it’s going to be weird sitting down at a reception venue. I’ll be having photo withdrawals maybe?

I had the talk with Melanie last week that there’s still time. She seems pretty determined to marry into our crazy family. Good luck to her! lol.

Next blog post will be on my post-wedding stiletto blisters.. you know happens at every wedding, we pay for an overprices pair of peep toes that says Fashion is Pain. Everytime.

So 2011 was crazy. 2012 will be even crazier.

A past bride of mine once said, “I don’t make new years resolutions, I make Goals”.

She inspires me. If you’d met her you’d know what I mean. She’s been on an amazing journey.. she showed me a photo of her old self a few months ago. Her name is Amanda. She was determined to lose x amount of weight. The photo I saw wasn’t the same girl.

I am so proud to call her my friend now. This is the story of how one of my past bride’s inspired me. Inspired me that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. As Andrew Simmons requoted at a Vision seminar: ”Those with a big enough WHY, will find a means to a HOW.” Amanda is in the running to be Bride of the Year. Vote for her here. Free hugs for all who vote! hehe.

So this is what 2012 will be.. setting goals and smashing them to pieces.. because let’s face it, Life is what we make it.

Blog neglect for the past month on my part, yes. Loss of passion for photography, heck no. *insert cheesy grin*

So I thought it’d be cool to share with you a behind the scenes video of what it’s like to be on a Fashion shoot with us. It’s really fun. Plus you get lot’s of high fives on the day and I trip at least once which can be humorous.

With my wedding clients, I emphasise a pre-wedding shoot is absolutely essential in order to fine tune all of your best angles, congruent poses to relfect your personality .. but secretly it’s really for them to see my “bumble-bee-in-a-jar” behaviour.. just in case they need to rebook another wedding photographer in time for the wedding day. Ok I’m kidding.

Part of what I do is bringing the energy to the day. I believe in doing what ever it takes to have your subjects relax in front of the camera to acheive the best possible results. Having that personal connection with your photographer is absolutely essential. I like to believe my emphasis on a personal experience in my business, makes everything a whole lot easier.. especially with Free Hugs. Because every one loves hugs right? ..
